Einstein wrote to Freud to say

that men should stop having wars.

Freud wrote back to say if you get rid of war you also get rid of love.

Freud was wrong.

What permits us to love one another

and the earth we inhabit is that we and it are impermanent.

We obsolesce.

Life is everlasting.

Individuals aren’t.

A mushroom lasts for only a very short time.

Often I’ll go in the woods thinking I ought to be bored with fungi

but coming upon just any mushroom in good condition

I lose my mind all over again.

Supreme good fortune we are both alive.

The White Cubicle Toilet Gallery measures 1.40 by 1.40 metres, is located within the Ladies Toilet of the George and Dragon, and works with no budget, staff or boundaries. White Cubicle has become one of the East End’s most exciting and ambitious exhibition spaces, presenting a discerning programme of international manifestations as an antidote to London’s sometimes extremely commodified art scene. Past exhibitions have included the work of Deborah Castillo, Gregorio Magnani, Butt Magazine, Federico Herrero, Terence Koh, i-Cabin, Steven Gontarski, Pixis Fanzine/PrincessJulia and Hanah, General Idea and avaf, Basso Magazin, Carl Hopgood, Giles Round, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Superm (Brian Kenny and Slava Mogutin), Elkin Calderon, Wolfgang Tillmans, Calvin Holbrook/Hate Magazine, and Husam el Odeh.

Next White Cubicle exhibition: April 1st: Cassia Tabatini and Fabio Gurjao, www.fur.uk.com
